Our island commitment

Since 2020, BeMed has been using its expertise as a project supporter and community facilitator to help the islands of the Mediterranean, which have been particularly affected by plastic pollution.

Why islands ?

Islands are particularly vulnerable to plastic pollution, which threatens their exceptional biodiversity and the living environment of local populations. Managing plastic waste on islands is more difficult because of their unique location between land and sea, and their exposure to marine litter.

However, they also offer opportunities to develop and test concrete and innovative solutions to reduce this pollution, find sustainable alternatives and raise awareness among residents and visitors.

Dedicated financial support

Through a specific call for projects launched in 2020 and 2024, we are strengthening the local actions already underway in the Mediterranean islands and supporting projects with a strong and measurable impact.
