Cruise ships against plastic pollution in the Med

In this initiative, supported by the Cypriot Shipping Deputy Ministry, ISOTECH Ltd aims to build capacity and support stakeholders within the shipping industry to minimise plastic waste production. A focus will be given to single-use plastics generated by ships. The initiative will promote the implementation of effective waste management practices on cruise ships and at port reception facilities. This will be achieved through the following key activities: (i) cruise ship waste characterisation study using a dedicatedly developed protocol, (ii) implementation of a high-level participatory decision-making workshop to identify gaps, needs and solutions to the marine litter issue by the shipping industry, (iii) development of a best practice guide and distribution to key actors in the shipping industry, (iv) organisation of a highly publicised final event, and of an extensive dissemination activities throughout the initiative.
