In the Rabat Salé Kenitra and Loukkous region, where intensive agriculture is dominated by high-value-added export crops such as avocado, red fruits, market garden crops and citrus fruits, the intensive use of agricultural plastics poses ecological and economic challenges. Despite representation by agricultural interprofessions, plastic management remains uncertain.
The initiative aims to promote sustainable, plastic-free agricultural practices by setting up a pilot project with around twenty farms. An action study will map the key stakeholders and their impact on plastic flows. Alternative solutions will be explored to reduce plastic use while maintaining farm performance, with an agricultural waste collection cooperative and recycling campaigns planned in collaboration with the OFPPT (public professional training operator, covering the Moroccan territory) and rural communes.
