“Plastic pollution has no borders” was the conclusion of the workshop on marine pollution held during the 2020 Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas Forum in Monaco. To reduce plastic pollution in MPAs, it is necessary to work more widely, outside the perimeter of MPAs, and with all stakeholders.
BeMed reiterated its commitment to support projects to fight plastic pollution in the Mediterranean to reach 100 projects supported and 1.3 million euros committed in the field in 2024.
In line with the recommendations of the Post-2020 roadmap for Mediterranean MPAs, BeMed is also committed to creating a dynamic between the organisations it supports in order to facilitate collaboration, capitalisation on existing good practices and the sharing of tools and experience.
