Following the discussions from our session in June, our Community gathered the 14th of November to explore strategies for expanding public awareness about plastic pollution. This event not only highlighted the role of influencers but also introduced a new angle: how businesses can act as allies in raising awareness.
World of influence
Katerina Kokinakki from Elafonisos Eco shared valuable insights into leveraging influence to drive positive action. She shared tips to approach influencers and how to find the good ambassadors to promote sustainable projects.
Blogger collaboration
Lucia Fanini from the University of Salento reflected on her collaboration with a blogger to engage broader audiences, which was part of a micro-initiative we supported in 2018. Her experience demonstrated the importance of building a relationship with the blogger to work together effectively.
Employee awareness in business
Laura Gauvrit from Surfrider Foundation Europe provided a fresh perspective on how companies can involve their employees to take action against plastic pollution. Act! with Surfrider offers companies packaged activities to train and raise awareness among employees on CSR issues and Ocean protection. Her presentation emphasized the potential of businesses as key players in fostering collective responsibility.
This event showcased the strength and creativity of our community in addressing the challenges of plastic pollution. We are grateful to our speakers and participants for their inspiring contributions.
