At the last Community Rendez-vous, we had the opportunity to explore the experiences of EcoPeace Middle East. It is an organization that works to protect the environment. Its projects include ShaREDSea, which aims to combat plastic pollution in the Red Sea. The organization strives to encourage leadership and volunteering as part of its program by encouraging young people, young professionals and teachers to organize local actions. The project is also setting up a network of strong change stakeholders who are committed in the long term in order to have a lasting impact. Each year, it trains 90 people through 20 training courses.
Although the organization focuses mainly on the Red Sea, its expertise in sustainable engagement and cross-border project management offers valuable insights for Mediterranean initiatives.
In Aqaba and Eilat, EcoPeace has launched an initiative bringing together young professionals, young people, guardians of the Red Sea and teachers to fight against single-use plastics in the Gulf of Aqaba. This project has created a thriving community of active volunteers committed to making a long-term difference.
Thanks to the entire EcoPeace Middle East team for sharing their expertise with the BeMed community.
