Main results of the project

The initiative set up five types of activities:

  1. Raising awareness of plastic pollution among sea users, hoteliers and fishermen. One of the objectives was to popularize the use of the MarineLitterWatch application to monitor beach clean-ups and create a database in Tunisia.
  2. Organization of several awareness campaigns for children.
  3. Implementation of an awareness campaign aimed at the general public on market days, with the aim of promoting traditional reusable objects (pottery, shopping bags, etc.), encouraging waste sorting and composting, with demonstrations of how to make and maintain a composter.
  4. Creation and display of two murals (in a school and at the entrance to a town), created by a local artist, to raise awareness of the issue of plastic pollution.
  5. Organization of an awareness campaign in two localities in Djerba, based on the screening of the documentary films Blue and Plastic Ocean.

A communication campaign accompanied all the activities, including interventions in radio programs and the broadcasting of video sequences on social networks.
